Habitat for Humanity of Greater Baton Rouge is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. Founded in 1976, HFHI is a nonprofit, ecumenical housing ministry which has built over 400,000 homes worldwide.
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Baton Rouge, Inc. (HFHGBR) serves an eight parish area including East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, Iberville, Point Coupee, East and West Feliciana, Livingston and Ascension Parishes, covering 9,275 square miles of land.
Habitat is not a handout but a "hand up." Homes are sold to partner families at no profit, and are financed by Habitat with an affordable, no-interest twenty year mortgage.
